Officers from the Milford Police Department were dispatched to the Target location on Boston Post Road on Nov. 11, where there was a report of a shoplifter who had been taken into custody.
According to police, the investigation into the shoplifting incident determined that New Haven resident Desmond Wilson, 27, who was already under investigation, allegedly stole more than $1,600 in merchandise from the store without paying.
Wilson also allegedly damaged some of the packaging of the stolen items, which cannot be resold. Police noted that Wilson had a warrant out for his arrest for violating a court-set probation.
Wilson was arrested and charged with larceny, criminal mischief, possession of a shoplifting device and violation of probation. Following his arraignment, he is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer the charges.
